Terry Young Managing Director

After graduating from RMIT in 1977 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and the Dean's prize from the School of Engineering, Mr Young first worked as a structural engineer then as a construction engineer on major projects in Victoria for seven years. He then spent 16 years with two multinational construction-materials public companies, one Australian and one British, including 12 years in the United States.

As corporate Vice President, he was responsible for strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions, including all due diligence and business integration. Mr Young was a former director of Pioneer Concrete America and RMC Industries.

In 2000, Mr Young retired from full-time corporate work to return to Australia to work part-time as a Corporate Advisor; coaching CEOs and advising companies in the areas of strategic planning, deal structuring and negotiating, business development and organisational development. Some of his clients include SAP Australia, ANZ Bank, Hynes Lawyers, WHK Cressey Lynch, and The Perfume Connection. Mr Young was a founding partner of Aegeus Partners in 2006.

Darren Basford Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary

Mr Basford is a Chartered Accountant with degrees in Commerce and Law from the University of Queensland. Mr Basford had 12 years experience in a variety of roles with Ernst & Young in Brisbane and London and left them in 2006 when he was a Principal in the Transaction Advisory Services division. He joined DMS in January 2008 from a major manufacturing company, where he was Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary until December 2007. Mr Basford is an Member of Chartered Secretaries Australia.

Darren Anderson Chief Operating Officer – Underground

Mr Anderson started his working career in the Queensland coal fields as an Apprentice Diesel Fitter in 1982. He undertook various maintenance and supervisory roles in underground and open cut coal mining in both QLD and NSW, Dragline construction projects in the Hunter Valley of NSW, various Diamond and Gold mining sites throughout Western Australia and Gold, Bauxite mining and road construction projects in the Northern Territory.

He was the founder and Managing Director of the Anderson Group of Companies which has grown from a single person operation in 1994 to a company with in excess of 300 employees with 12 operating divisions across both Queensland and NSW that service the Australian and international coal industries.

Brad Neven General Manager Human Resources

Before commencing with DMS in August 2011, Mr Neven was a senior executive in the Generation industry with over 12 years’ experience gained in a variety of human resource and managerial roles. As the General Manager of Business Services he was responsible for a diverse portfolio of Human Resources, Payroll, Industrial Relations, Health & Safety, the Environment, IT, Information Resources and Risk. He has experience in mergers having led the Implementation team for Stanwell during the Genco review where three organisations were merged into two.

Mr Neven is a Certified Professional of AHRI and has previously held Directorships with a number of not-for-profit organisations.

David Holzgrefe Business Development Manager

Mr Holzgrefe is a Chartered Accountant with a degree in Business majoring in Accounting and Finance.

Mr Holzgrefe had 10 years experience in a variety of roles with KPMG in Brisbane as well as working in the London for a number of years. He joined DMS in August 2010 with an extensive business background in mining, construction, and property industries, including strategy and mergers and acquisitions.
